A study plan that fits a busy life

By Michael Ukwuma

How to practise a little every day and still make real progress over six to eight weeks.

Small and regular beats long and rare

Most learners have jobs, families or both. A two hour session once a week feels productive but it is far less effective than thirty minutes on most days. Your brain keeps what it meets often. Short daily practice also builds the habit that will carry you through the weeks before the exam.

A simple weekly pattern

Try giving two days to reading and listening, two days to writing and two days to speaking, with one lighter day for review. On a review day, go back over the explanations for questions you missed and write down the reason in your own words.

In each session, finish with a short note on what you learned. A single sentence is enough, for example: I lost time because I read the whole passage before I looked at the questions.

Use the streak to your advantage

The practice site tracks your daily streak and rewards you with points for every activity. This is not just a game. Keeping a streak is a gentle way to protect the habit, so even on a tired day, do one short reading set and keep the chain alive.
